On September 14, 2018 Hurricane Florence made landfall in North Carolina. Our team, which was deployed several days prior, was awaiting it's arrival at Whiteville, just in-land of the hurricane. The strike team, named AST600 or Ambulance Strike Team 600, was deployed to assist area hospitals and 911 services that were being affected by this disaster.
We sure had fun showing the scouts (pack 73) one of our units today. The popcorn was great too!

Bele Chere (pronounced Bell Cher), was the largest free outdoor street festival in the Southeast, attracting up to 400,000 visitors a day in its busiest years. The three-day festival on the streets of Downtown Asheville featured live, original music all day and night for festival-goers. Bele Chere means "beautiful living" and comes from an ancient Scottish dialect. Bele Chere offers the unique opportunity to see, taste and hear some of the region’s finest art, cuisine and music. It ran for 35 years.
Bele Chere started in 1979 and was located on a whopping three blocks. It was the brainstorm of a handful of downtown Asheville merchants and business people with the vision of revitalizing our downtown business district, which was largely abandoned as retail businesses & residents moved to the suburbs.
Today, downtown Asheville is a very different place since it's bustling every weekend. Thus, the festival was now hurting downtown businesses since so many streets were closed.
Another wild night on the town as Medical Emergency Ambulance covers the massive celebration on New Years. The well known DJ GRiZ announced the premier of his New Years Eve celebration, “The Get Down”, which was unveiled in Asheville, North Carolina. The staff of the US Cellular Center and the fans were amazing and thankful for our presence.

Medic provided EMS services to several racetracks throughout the south-east over 20 years. We still provide that service today.
These events would bring in an average of 100,000 visitors a day.
